Deliciously spiced chicken tandoori drumsticks with a cooling Kefir dip

A perfect addition to any summer BBQ!

Tempt your taste buds with this spicy tandoori chicken recipe, served with a refreshing Kefir dip. This easy dinner recipe is packed with protein and made with all-natural ingredients. Simply prepare the meat marinade the night before, then grill for 20 minutes.

We love this recipe served with a side salad for a light meal, and if you’re really hungry why not boil some rice while the meat is grilling for a winning combination.

Did you know? Tandoori style means marinating meat before cooking it over an intense fire in a tandoor – which is a cylindrical clay or metal oven used for cooking in Southern, Central and Western Asia, as well as in the South Caucasus. If you don’t have a tandoor, a regular grill or barbeque can be used as a substitute.


For the chicken

  • 1.75kg chicken drumsticks
  • 500ml Biotiful Kefir Original
  • The juice of 2 lemons
  • 3-4 tbsp tandoori spice mix
  • Pinch of salt

For the dip

  • 3-4 tbsp Biotiful Kefir Original
  • 5 fresh mint sprigs
  • 1 green chilli, deseeded, sliced
  • Pinch of salt and sugar

Tandoori Chicken

  • Cut deep incisions into the chicken with a small, sharp knife. Then place the chicken into a bowl and sprinkle over the salt and the juice of two lemons, massaging into the chicken until well coated.
  • Whisk the Kefir and tandoori spice mix in a bowl until well combined and then pour the marinade onto the chicken and massage into the flesh. Cover with cling film and chill in the fridge overnight.
  • The next day simply grill or BBQ your drumsticks for 20 minutes, turning regularly. Add more lemon juice to taste.

Cooling Kefir Dip

  • Place all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Serve alongside the chicken tandoori drumsticks.
