Support your gut with this beetroot smoothie

Beets work well in salads, soups and dips. And with this recipe for a beetroot smoothie we hope we can convince you they’re great in smoothies, too.

There’s a lot to love about a beetroot’s nutritional offering: they’re packed with fibre that can support good digestive health and bowel function, a good source of folate to support heart health and rich in potassium which contributes to keeping your blood pressure normal.

Smoothies are great on the go, but when you’re looking to slow down and relax, a smoothie bowl can be a great way to treat yourself.


  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 2 small bulbs of beetroot (roasted for a sweeter flavour)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 250ml Biotiful Kefir Original
  • Smoothie bowl toppings, optional: pomegranate seeds, berries, sliced kiwis, coconut chips 
  • Blend all the vegetables and ingredients together to make the base of the beetroot smoothie bowl.
  • Slowly add the Kefir until you reach the desired consistency. (The thicker the smoothie is, the better it is in a bowl with toppings.)
  • Pour into a bowl and add toppings as desired.
