Want to live a healthier life? Well, we’ve got good news: the BBC has road-tested 10 “health hacks” in their recent programme Easy Ways to Live Well.

The list includes a number of tips including how to reduce over-snacking, screen time, stress and moving more. And on their list is how to keep your gut healthy by “sipping an unusual drink”. Their suggestions? Fermented foods and drinks, which can include kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, fermented yogurts and our favourite Kefir.

That’s because our gut microbes have a role to play in our weight, mood and overall health. To keep them happy, aiming for our five a day alongside naturally fermented foods makes a great meal for our millions of gut bacteria.
