What is Kefir?

Kefir is a delicious 2,000 year old cultured milk drink originating from the Caucasus Mountains. Kefir (pronounced keff-eer) is packed full of billions of gut-friendly bacteria that all work in harmony to keep your gut happy and healthy. All of these wonderful bacteria mean that Kefir has long been the recovery food of choice after illness and antibiotics in Russia. Traditionally, it’s also been given to children, expectant and breastfeeding women and the elderly – to support their vulnerable immune systems.

 

Kefir

It’s like nature’s own pharmacy: super charged with essential vitamins and minerals (including B12 and B2), protein, calcium and over 40 strains of gut-friendly bacteria (compared to yoghurt which typically has around 4). All totally free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives – naturally.

In Turkish, ‘Kefir’ literally means ‘feel good’. Using only the highest quality British milk, we at Bio-tiful Dairy now want to share that good life as far and wide as possible.
