After a party filled holiday season, a stressed gut may be on the cards for you. Your micro-biome is the body’s second brain and affects everything from your mood, to your immune system and digestion. Keeping your gut light on toxins and loaded with good bacteria will help to keep everything else in your body functioning properly!

Here are some simple steps to help heal your gut in 2017:

  1. Introduce immunity boosting Kefir into your daily diet.  Cultured milk drinks are packed with essential vitamins (including B12 and B2) and contain billions of gut-friendly bacteria (including Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus rhamnosus). Kefir is also one of the highest probiotic foods you can eat! Drink a Bio-tiful Dairy smoothie on the go or use the Orignal Kefir in homemade smoothies, dips or with cereal.

2. Eat your greens! Especially those of the cruciferous family. Think broccoli, cauliflower, kale and cabbage. Why? This family of veggies are high in Vitamin A & C and help fight inflammation.

3. Fermentation for the win! Upping your intake of fermented foods is very beneficial for your gut health. Fermentation preserves the food, and creates beneficial enzymes, b-vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids, and various strains of probiotics. Kefir is obviously at the top of our list, but other foods to enjoy are Sauerkraut, Kimchi and Kombucha.

4. Another option is to take probiotics in either a pill or liquid form, some great brands are OptiBac or Symprove, although we like to eat and drink our probiotics.
